Distributed Systems¶

Definition¶

A system whose components are located on different networked computers, which communicate and coordinate their actions by passing messages to one another. Each component is responsible for one part of the application.

Example¶

Imagine we have an e-commerce app where we sell books. We can make this app into a distributed system each server can have different roles:

Customer accounts
Payments
Storing orders
Loyalty points
Books inventory

If a user buys a book, multiple components will interact with each other to complete the request.
